What is Micromancy?

In 1973, due to his growing disillusionment with astrology as it was currently practiced, Professor Nils T. Njal turned, in his own words, "from the study of the very large to the study of the very small." He spent much of the next decade researching and updating the ancient science of micromancy, using modern instruments and techniques. He states, "Modern advances such as the compound microscope augment the accuracy of micromancy in ways the ancients could not have begun to imagine."
A micromancer can, by means of the microscopic examination of items that have received the physical and spiritual imprint of a person, gain insight into the subject's past, present, and future. According to Professor Nils, "The atomic structure of any object is indelibly altered by the presence of a human being, and the object in question alters its owner in turn. These interactions influence the course of our lives in a powerful way, and can easily be forseen by an experienced practicioner who has access to these objects and who is equipped with a powerful microscope."
For example, the examination of complicated patterns of wear (invisible to the naked eye) on a wedding ring could shed light on the future of a marriage, especially since the ring is already an object heavily charged with spiritual meaning and symbolism for the wearer. Professor Nils has already made great strides in the advancement of this heretofore neglected branch of scientific divination, confirming to an astounding degree the teachings of Lucretius on the mechanisms of flavor, disease, and love (and shedding great light on his mysterius "swerve"). Yet he is confident that his greatest achievements are still to come: "Much remains to be discovered. This science is still in its infancy."
